Seated to the far left is the famous Egyptian Quran reciter, Mohammad Siddiq al-Manshawi, next to his Syrian counterpart, Tawfiq al-Munajjed (standing). President Nasser is surrounded by the Grand Mufti of Syria Sheikh Abu al-Yesir Abidin and President Shukri al-Quwatli. Next to Quwatli are Prime Minister Sabri al-Asali, Parliament Speaker Akram al-Hawrani, and Defense Minister Khaled al-Azm.
