The Syrian delegation includes: President Hafez al-Assad, Ambassador Adnan Umran, Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nasser Qaddur, and Assad's interpreter Bouthaina Shaaban. The US delegation was headed by Secretary of State Warren Christopher and included Middle East envoy Dennis Ross.
