Mustapha Pasha al-Abed served as prefix of al-Karak and then became governor of Mosul during the era of Sultan Abdulhamid II. His daughter Naziq rose to fame under his influence, combating the French at the battle of Maysaloun in 1920 in her capacity as founder of the Syrian Red Star Society.
