The Deir ez-Zour notable and anti-French revolt leader Ramadan Pasha Shlash

Ramadan Pasha (1882-1961) led a revolt against the French and British, raising an army of followers to combat European powers based in Syria during the inter-war years. He was exiled to Beirut twice, and died in Damascus in 1961.
