The Syrian singer Asmahan (1912-1944) in the early 1930s. Asmahan was originally from the Druze Mountain, but moved to Egypt after the Syrian Revolt of 1925 and became one of the most popular artists of the Arab World, throughout the 1930s. She died young, in a car accident, and many speculated that she had been killed, in 1944.
