The stamp issued by President Taj al-Din al-Hasani on September 27, 1941 on the occasion of a declaration, made by General Charles de Gaulle, declaring Syria independent from the French Mandate. This independence would be conditional, de Gaulle added, to the end of World War II, and French troops would remain in Syria until the war in Europe came to an end.
