This is the Syrian National Anthem, composed by Mohammad Flayfel to the lyrics of the Syrian poet Khalil Mardam Bey in 1937. It was adopted as the official anthem after an official competition to pick the best anthem, and as a result, both Mardam Bey and Flayfel received the Medal of Honor, Excellence Class, from President Hashim al-Atasi.
