The funeral of the National Bloc leader Fawzi al-Ghazzi, author of Syria’s first republican constitution. Ghazzi was killed by his wife in 1929. She wanted to marry her lover and poisoned her husband. The sign carried next to his coffin, which is draped with the Syria Flag, reads: “The Author of the Constitution is Dead. Long live the Constitution!”.
