Syrian Ambassador to the US Farid Zayn al-Din in a TV debate with Israeli Ambassador Abba Eban in the US Farid Zayn al-Din, the Syrian Ambassador to the US (left), in a television debate on NBC with Abba Eban, the Israeli Ambassador, discussing the Arab-Israeli Conflict. The partition was placed under request of the Syrian Embassy and the debate was aired on NBC on March 11, 1956. Less than one year later, however, Ambassador Zayn al-Din was asked to return to Damascus after Syrian authorities expelled three US diplomats from Syria, charged with planning for a coup d'etat against President Shukri al-Quwatli.
